All tools (not stones and silver) from Introduction to Silversmithing class will be required.
The following items listed below are specifically designed to supplement the tools purchased and used in the introductory class. The approximate cost for these tools and supplies is $140-175.
- 1 oval cabochon stone of your choice, with a flat bottom, choose from following sizes 10x14mm, 12x14mm,14x16mm*
- (1) 6 inch long x 3/16 inch wide plain fine silver bezel*
- (1) 6 inch long x 1/8 inch plain fine silver bezel*
- 1 each: graph paper (10 squares per inch) and tracing paper*
- 1 dozen 6/0 sawblades*
- (1) 1×6 inch 18 gauge sterling silver sheet*
- (1) 6 inch 16 gauge sterling silver square wire*
- 1 pair of dividers (Suggestion: purchase the best that you can afford)
- (1) #2 half round inside ring file
- (1) #4 handle to fit above file
- 1 burnisher
- assorted drill bits (ranging in sizes from 54-74)
- assorted blue wheels and silipum wheels (knife edge and flat edge)
- mandrels for above wheels
- 1 square blackened steel pusher with wood handle (sometimes called prong pusher without a grove)–this may be modified in class
You should already have the following from your Introduction to Silversmithing class. If you do not have these items, you will need to purchase them.
- 1 pair combination pliers* (5 ¼ inch length with the curved head approximately 6mm wide
- 1 strip each: easy, medium, and hard silver sheet solder*
- 1 dozen 2/0 sawblades*
- 1 dozen 4/0 sawblades*
The following items will be discussed in the class. Please do not purchase these items until you have consulted your instructor.
- 6 inches sterling silver tubing, 5.1mm O.D. (STTB5.1)(may be shared between multiple students)
- (3) 4.5mm synthetic, round faceted stones, or CZs
- (4) sterling silver posts and clutches (ST2161)
