The following items with a (*) are required for the first day of class:
- 1 wax file, 7” *
- 1 alcohol Lamp (glass)*
- 1 dozen wax Sawblades*
- 3 sticks yellow sticky wax
- 1 pair of dividers –get the best that you can afford
- 1 sheet of green 3M polishing paper
- small package of assorted gauge sprue wax
- 1 high top wax ring tube (Blue or Green) – Matt Brand*
- 1 ring tube sizer*
- 1 brass scratch brush*
- 1 degree gauge
- 1 cconomy file size #1 or #0
- 1 soft toothbrush (maybe an old one)
- 1 jeweler’s saw frame*
- 2 paddle burs (1-size small and 1-size medium )
- 2 ball burs (1 size approximately 2 mm and 1 size approximately 3.5 mm)
- 1 X-acto knife
- 1 optivisor with #5 lens (or student’s choice)
- cigarette lighter
- particle mask
- safety glasses
- 1 pair of rubber gloves
- metal for casting (usually 1-3 troy oz. of silver casting grain-exact amount will be determined upon completion of student’s waxes)
- 1 Chasing Hammer (talk with instructor regarding size on the first day of class)
- Standard Metal Finishing Tools (ie: metal files, sanding sticks, blue wheels, any questions ask your instructor)
- 1 oval cabochon stone of your choice, with a flat bottom, choose from following sizes; 10x14mm or 12x14mm or 14x16mm (Kathy will also have some cabochons at the school if you would like to purchase from her.)
Optional Supplies
- 1 File-A-Wax assortment – Junior
- 1 Inverted Cone Bur (approximately 2.5 mm)
- 1 Wax Bur Set
- 1 Container denatured alcohol (for home use)
Additional metal finishing supplies will be discussed in class and will be necessary at a later date.
